SIERRA CLUB NEWS RELEASE
LAS VEGAS — Today, the Toiyabe Chapter of the Sierra Club announced its endorsement of Steven Horsford in the election for Nevada’s new Congressional District 4.
“The Sierra Club is confident that Steven Horsford will be a champion in the fight to protect the health and well-being of Nevada families,” said Taj Ainlay, the Chapter’s Political Chair. “From protecting the air we breathe and the water we drink, to guaranteeing that Nevada’s natural beauty isn’t sold for a quick buck, to creating good-paying clean energy jobs, Horsford stands with Nevadans first.”
As a Nevada State Senator, Horsford wrote and worked to pass the Clean Energy Jobs Initiative, positioning Nevada as a future leader in renewable energy for the nation.
“Senator Horsford showed inspirational leadership in the State Senate,” said Teresa Crawford, a Sierra Club member and nurse from Henderson, Nevada. “He is exactly the kind of leader we need in Washington to protect our environment and create an economy that works for all families.”
The Sierra Club is mobilizing its members nationwide to support endorsed candidates.
“Steven Horsford has proven that he is willing to reject the ploys of big polluters and fight to protect our environment and the health of American families,” said Sierra Club President Robin Mann. “The Sierra Club will proudly mobilize our members toward Steven Horsford’s candidacy for Congress.”
