NNMC NEWS RELEASE
SPARKS – Northern Nevada Medical Center recently earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ in Orthopedics: Knee Replacement, Orthopedics: Hip Replacement and Spine Surgery. These certifications recognize NNMC’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards.
NNMC’s Joint Center of Excellence and Spine Center of Excellence are the first programs in northern Nevada to receive these certifications. NNMC is the only hospital in the state to be certified in all three.
“Northern Nevada Medical Center has long been considered a premiere orthopedic hospital of excellence in Nevada,” said Mark W. Crawford, FACHE, CEO Northern Nevada Medical Center. “The Joint Commission certifications verify that NNMC is truly a center of excellence for joint and spine surgery, and this is a major step toward maintaining excellence and continually improving the care we provide.”
To achieve these prestigious certifications, the hospital underwent a rigorous three-day, on-site evaluation by The Joint Commission. NNMC earned certification by proving compliance with nationally developed standards including medication management and infection prevention and control.
“In achieving Joint Commission certification, Northern Nevada Medical Center has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its knee replacement, hip replacement and spine surgery patients,” said Jean Range, M.S., R.N., C.P.H.Q. executive director, Disease-Specific Care Certification, The Joint Commission. “Certification is a voluntary process, and I commend Northern Nevada Medical Center for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”
Earlier this year, NNMC received certification as a primary stroke center by The Joint Commission. NNMC is also an accredited chest pain center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
