Richard Ganchan, MD, FACC, FSCAI, of Reno Heart Physicians, was honored recently by the Nevada Academy of Family Physicians as Consultant of the Year. Every year, the academy honors a medical community member who demonstrates outstanding support of family physicians in the region.
Dr. Ganchan is a longtime Reno physician, joining Reno Heart Physicians in 1976. Since 1996, he has been the medical director of Cardiology Nursing and co-director of the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic at Renown Institute for Heart and Vascular Health.
Dr. Ganchan graduated from medical school from Baylor University in Houston, Texas, in 1968. He earned an internal medicine residency in 1972 and a cardiology fellowship in 1976, both at the University of Utah.
He became board certified in cardiology in 1977, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiac Angiography & Intervention. He has also served as President of the Nevada Heart Association.
