RAJAN ZED NEWS RELEASE
Leaders belonging to various religions participated in panel discussion on reincarnation at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno on Saturday.
Coordinated by Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, panelists presented their viewpoints, taking different stands on the topic of reincarnation, quoting from scriptures. Even those who believed in the concept of reincarnation portrayed varying approaches to it.
Other panelists besides Zed included Spanish Springs Presbyterian Church Pastor Bruce Taylor, Northern Nevada Muslim Community Vice President Sherif A. Elfass, Reno Buddhist Center Priest Jikai’ Phil Bryan, Temple Beth Or Rabbi ElizaBeth W. Beyer, Pagan High Priestess Ellyn Bryans-Darrah and religion professor William Tell Gifford. NNMC Center Imam Abdelwahed Ali Awad was also present, and panelists later answered queries from the attendees.
Zed, who is president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, said that interest in reincarnation, which is a belief that there was continuity from one life to a next, was increasing in the world. According to a report by Washington DC-based Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life some time back, “24 percent Americans believe in Reincarnation, that people will be reborn in this world again and again.”
Zed pointed out that Lord Krishna told in Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord): Death is inevitable for those who are born, birth is certain for the dead.
