ELKO — The Lamoille Trail Tour, sponsored by the Forest Service and the Northeastern Nevada Stewardship Group, will be held at the Lamoille Trailhead next Saturday, October 22, 2011, beginning at 9:00 am. The trailhead is located on the Lamoille Canyon road just past the Powerhouse Picnic Area; parking is available at the pullout across the road from the trailhead
Construction is in progress on around 3.5 miles of trail. Great Basin Institute, the Northeastern Nevada Stewardship Group, Elko County, Barrick Gold of North America, Nevada Division of Forestry, Nevada Youth Training Center, the Forest Service, and local community members have made this trail project possible. Funding was provided by a Nevada Division of State Lands Q1 grant.
“The Stewardship Group is pleased to see this exciting trail system being established, and to play a part in its progress,” said Leta Collord, past President and active member of the Northeastern Nevada Stewardship Group.
Logistics:
• Gather at Lamoille Trailhead at 9:00 a.m.
• Try the trail: hike, bike or horseback, part or all of the 3.5 miles– (non motorized only)
• Bring your lunch, water, and friends, and dress in layers for the day’s weather
• Meet the trail organizers and learn about the trail
