SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

The annual downtown Reno Pirate Crawl takes place Saturday, September 10, 2011. The event begins at 7:00 p.m. from the Harrah’s Reno Hotel and Casino Plaza.

Enthusiasts are encouraged to dress in pirate costume as the group explores various downtown Reno businesses. The Pirate Crawl, organized by a community-event group, offers attendees a directional map and pirate mug for their journey through participating venues or ports as they have been deemed. The Pirate Crawl will include a costume contest at 7:30 p.m. at the Harrah’s Plaza, a rum-punch contest and raffle-prize giveaways throughout the crawl, pirate trivia games and more. The price for participation is $10. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Junkee Clothing Exchange, Reno Envy, Platos Closet, The Melting Pot, the downtown YMCA, or Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, which was chosen as the primary charitable benefactor this year.

Tickets may be purchased just before the event at the check-in desk between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the Harrah’s Plaza. Participants may also purchase tickets throughout the event at the Pirate Crawl fire truck or with Pirate Crawl staff who will be identifiable by their organizer badges.

This year’s event lists a slew of participating venues such as Birtha Miranda’s Mexican Cuisine, Harrah’s Hotel and Casino, The Knitting Factory, Pizza Reno, The Waterfall, El Cortez Lounge, Whiskey Bar, Five Star Saloon, Jungle Vino, Chocolate Bar, Silver Peak, Slice of the Peak, Freight House District, and the Pin-up-Pub. Additional event sponsors include: Coors Light, Reno-Sparks Cab, Gourmelt, the Greek Alumni Chapter, Captain Morgan, The Reno-Tahoe Muse Project, and KRZQ.
