Sierra Front-Northwestern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council meeting June 15-17

blm_logo-300x261-4042549-7325606CARSON CITY — In accordance with the Federal Land Policy and Management Act and the Federal Advisory Committee Act of 1972 (FACA), a meeting of the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management-Nevada (BLM) Sierra Front-Northwestern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will be held as indicated below. Members of the public and media are cordially invited to attend.

The council will meet on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 9:00 a.m., at Bruno’s Country Club Café, 445 Main Street, Gerlach, Nevada, for a working brunch meeting. The RAC will depart at approximately 11:30 a.m. for a field trip to public lands in Humboldt and Pershing Counties, including the Black Rock-High Rock Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area. Afternoon stops will be held at Burning Man event site on the Black Rock Playa, Trego Hot Springs and the Hycroft Mine.

The RAC will overnight at Soldier Meadows Ranch, continuing on the field tour on June 16 to Soldier Meadows Campground & Area of Critical Environmental Concern, Mahogany Creek, and sites along the Ruby Pipeline. The field tour will return to Gerlach by 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17.

Members of the public are invited to participate on the field tour, but they will need to provide their own transportation, overnight accommodations and food/drinks.

The public may present general written and/or oral comments to the RAC in Gerlach at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. A detailed agenda is currently posted at: http://www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/res/resource_advisory/sierra_front-northwestern.html
