SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE
The event, in its ninth year, provides nearly all funding for the Reno Ballers league for expenses including uniforms, gym time, tournament entry fees and hotel rooms for travel squads. This relieves individual teams (and parents) of as much as $1,000 in expenses that are normally charged in similar youth basketball leagues, making the basketball experience available to all regardless of income.
The Ballers, a program of the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, gives hundreds of youth each year a unique opportunity to learn how to play basketball while also honing skills that are critical throughout boys’ and girls’ lives: camaraderie, sportsmanship, team play, etc.
The Ballers Extravaganza takes place June 4, from 4:30-9 p.m. at the Club’s Donald W. Reynolds Facility at 2680 E. 9th Street in Reno. Tickets are $75 or $600 for a table. Dinner and drinks are included. In addition to an exciting silent and live auction, the program includes a tribute to the Ballers’ outgoing eighth-grade players, many of whom will continue playing in high school and beyond.
