Saint Mary’s Medical Group (SMMG), a division of Saint Mary’s Network and a member of CHW, announces the appointment of executive director, Howard (Chip) Rattigan. In this new role, Rattigan will establish and implement the strategic vision for the growth of this multi-specialty medical group. In addition to accountability for financial performance, resource management and operational efficiency, Rattigan will also work with physicians and staff to improve healthcare access and quality in northern Nevada, an essential component of CHW’s mission.
Saint Mary’s Medical Group comprises 14 primary care physicians and 21 mid-level providers, practicing at six locations in Reno and Sparks, along with operational and support staff. In addition to offering primary and urgent care services, SMMG operates The Clinic at Walmart in south Reno and Spanish Springs. SMMG currently employs 13 primary care physicians and one vascular specialist, with plans to continue expansion of primary and specialty care in the coming year.
Rattigan is a longtime Nevada resident and brings more than 30 years of healthcare administration experience to the position. Prior to accepting his new role, Rattigan served as administrator for Cardiovascular Surgery Associates (CSA) in Las Vegas, Nev. In this role, he was responsible for the management and operations of a nine-physician, cardiovascular thoracic surgery practice. Prior to CSA, Rattigan owned and operated a fully integrated healthcare delivery system including 500 physicians in multi-site, multi-specialty groups. Additionally, he previously served as adjunct faculty member for the University of St. Francis in Las Vegas, Nev., teaching graduate-level courses in healthcare management. Rattigan received a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill. and a bachelor’s degree from Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, W. Va.
