Double Dutch Battle – SATURDAY!
Holland’s longest-running event is back for its fifth year this Saturday, May 7th at RiverFest. This years jam packed with radness! Four teams–The Charred Lions, Really Loud, The Bros, and The Cosby Sweaters–will be competing for the coveted Golden Ropes trophy. Also featuring 2Nai, DJ William Wise, and DJ Aesthetik, and Emcee Levi Watson! There will killer jumprope, costumes, break dancing, music, grueling defeat, glorious victory, and FUN! This year we move from the courts to 1st and Arlington and it starts at 5PM. IT’S GOING TO BE AWESOME! BE THERE>
Balasana: works by Erica Greif
Together with our neighbors The Hub and Never Ender Boutique, the Holland Project Gallery is hosting an Underbelly Art Collective joint gallery show! At the Holland Project Gallery is Erica Greif’s work, an installation in Scenes, Dreams & Things: A Three-Part Underbelly Exhibition. Balasana is a collection of mixed-media pieces Erica created over the last eight months in an attempt to answer the question: Is it progression if I still hold myself like a child? Much of her work incorporates allusions to stereotypes and pop-culture. Come see Erica’s first solo show and check out the other Underbelly artists’ pieces featured at The Hub and Never Ender. Reception on Wednesday May 11. Show runs from May 8th- May 22nd.
Negative Standards, Registeredsexoffender, Elephant Rifle
So the fliers looks horrible, but usually the worse the flier the better the show. Even without a bad flier this show is going to rule! Weirdo crust Negative Standards (member of Acts of Sedition) are playing with powerviolence players Registeredsexoffender and gross-out-soiled-clothes-worship Elephant Rifle. This is going to follow Balasana at the Holland Project Gallery. Show starts at 8:30PM and bring $5.
