CARSON CITY–Gov. Brian Sandoval today issued an executive order ordering the flags of the United States and the state of Nevada at the state Capitol and all state buildings to half staff in remembrance of Army Corporal Frank W. Buckles, the last surviving American veteran of World War I, who was interred today.
“Corporal Buckles and the entire generation of American veterans of World War I deserve to be remembered,” Sandoval said. “We can never thank them enough for their service.”
President Barack Obama had previously ordered the flag of the United States to half staff in honor of Buckles. Flags remained at half staff until sunset tonight.
