Special events directors gather for panel discussion regarding marketing efforts

The Advertising Association of Northern Nevada (a2n2) has assembled a panel from some of the largest and most important special events in Reno and Sparks to discuss the challenges of marketing northern Nevada’s Special Events in today’s economy. Officials from Hot August Nights, Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook Off, Reno National Championship Air Races and Reno Tahoe Open will take the stage Oct. 12 to discuss concerns and strategies for marketing their special events. The panel will feature Bruce Walter, Executive Director/CEO of Hot August Nights, Jana Smoley, Executive Director, Reno Tahoe Open, Beth Cooney, Executive Director of Marketing, John Ascuaga’s Nugget, Michael Houghton, President/CEO, Reno National Championship Air Races.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Bob Felten, a University of Nevada Reynolds School of Journalism professor and former Reno advertising executive. Networking for the a2n2 luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m., lunch and panel discussion begins at noon. The event will be held at the Atlantis Casino, 3800 South Virginia Street. Cost is $20 for a2n2, AAF, AIGA and PRSA members, $30 for non-members.
