SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE
Whispering Vine, Hidden Valley Country Club and the Whitney Myer Band have pitched in, along with many other local businesses and individuals, to help Horses for the Spirit host the 2nd Annual Wine & Spirits wine tasting and raffle prize fundraising event scheduled for November 4, 2010.
“This is our second annual Wine & Spirits fundraiser,” says Deb Conrad, Executive Director Pro Tem for Horses for the Spirit. “We lowered ticket prices this year to make it more affordable for more people to attend. This was made possible by the businesses and people in the community who were willing to make generous donations to support our event despite a slow economy.”
All profits from the event benefit HFTS and its Equine Assisted Learning programs which are offered to youth in Washoe County and teach positive life and social skills. HFTS list of clients include Social Services, McGee Center, Kids Kottage and No Child Left Behind, among others.
Horses are part of the teaching team in HFTS’s programs and help to break down barriers and offer problem-based and experiential learning opportunities to kids who need to build their social and life skills in order to become successful in life despite the odds stacked against them. HFTS was founded in 2005 and is a 501(c)3 public charity.
