Saint Mary’s Center for Health and Fitness host free two-day open house

To help you get a head start on a health and fitness plan before the holidays, Saint Mary’s Center for Health and Fitness will hold a free two-day Open House filled with free fitness classes, nutrition guidelines, body fat testing, and more.  The Open House will take place on Friday, Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 16 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Center for Health at 645 N. Arlington Street, Suite 100.  For more information about the event, call 775-770-3800.

“It can be challenging to learn about proper nutrition techniques, but our Center understands that exercise is medicine and our mission for our members is to reduce their risk for chronic disease through exercise and nutrition,” said Kathy Kase Rohlfing, director of marketing for the Saint Mary’s Center for Health and Fitness.

The free Open House will be an opportunity for community members to tour the Saint Mary’s Center for Health and Fitness, talk with personal trainers about weight loss goals and participate in a variety of free activities.  Features of the event include: special group exercise classes, free chair massages, pilates reformer demonstrations, nutritional information and cooking tips, pre- and post-natal exercise seminar, free body fat analysis, free child care with face painting and medical exercise Q&A.

For those interested in medical exercise, the open house will also feature a “Core Stabilization” seminar, part of the Fitness Center’s medical exercise program, the only one of its kind in the region.  The seminar will provide information about posture awareness, prevention of lower back pain, techniques for building core strength and stability.  Learn more on Friday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. or Saturday, Oct. 16 at 11:30 a.m.

Additionally, the Fitness Center will have a family swim night on Saturday, Oct. 16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  The swim night will cost $5 per person and interested community members need to register in advance calling 775-770-3800.
