(RENO, Nev.) – In an effort to expand fundraising efforts, The Great Reno Balloon Race now offers mobile giving through “Greater Giving,” a non-profit program, which allows anyone to easily make a $10 donation to the event.
Greater Giving allows spectators to support their favorite non-profit special event by simply texting the word “balloon” to 20222. For every $10 donation received, that person’s name will be entered into a drawing to win a hot-air balloon ride during the event (weather permitting). Donors will also have the chance to win a T-6 airplane ride during a “Missing Man” flyover provided to the Balloon Race by the National Championship Air Races. Text donations can be made any time during the months of July, August and September, are tax-deductible and will be charged through the donors’ mobile carrier.
“The Great Reno Balloon Race is put on for our community, supported by the community,” Dixie Craig, Event Manager, said. “And we want everyone to have the opportunity to help support their favorite event, even if sponsorship isn’t an option.”
One-time or recurring donations may also be made at www.renoballoon.com any month of the year.
“It’s in our mission to keep the Balloon Race completely free to the public,” Pilar Aldecoaotalora, President of the Balloon Race Board, said. “Every penny counts and your generous donations go directly toward operating expenses.”
