SUBMITTED PRESS RELEASE

ELKO — The California Trail Center will be hosting its second free Old Time Family Dance on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, from 7-9 p.m.  Live music will be provided by South Wind.  Dance caller Rob Snow is coming from Salt Lake City to teach young and old, couples and singles, the dances that the pioneers knew.

There were hardships on the California Trail but there was also celebration.  Come and celebrate like the emigrants did with an evening of traditional dancing!  Learn old time American dances like the Virginia Reel, cotillions and round dances.

The California Trail Center, operated by the Bureau of Land Management, is located eight miles west of Elko at Hunter Exit 292.  The center is scheduled to open on a regular basis the summer of 2010.  Until then, the Trail Center is available to school groups and other organizations on a prearranged basis.  A meeting room also is available.

For more information about the Old Time Family Dance or the California Trail Center please contact Gary Koy at 775-738-1849 or 775-934-2467 (cell).
