Harry Reid announces nearly $500,000 for Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery

Harry Reid today announced that the Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley a grant for $499,900.  The cemetery will use the funds for the construction of full casketed gravesites, cremains burial areas, visitor parking, landscaping, irrigation and supporting infrastructure.

“I thank Secretary Shinseki for awarding these funds to a facility that does an excellent job of serving Nevada’s veterans and their families,” Reid said.  “The Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery is one of the finest in the nation and is a fitting final resting place for the brave Nevada servicemen and women who gave their lives to protect our freedom.”

The project at the cemetery will develop approximately three acres and will include 451 standard burial plots and 1,619 in-ground cremains sites.
