The Washoe County School District (WCSD) Police Department has arrested two teenagers for making separate threats against schools in the past week.
On October 3, authorities announced the arrests of a 14-year-old student who shared weapon photos and threatened a school shooting. A 15-year-old who posted threats on TikTok was also arrested.
Both teens are facing felony charges under Nevada law for making threats or conveying false information about acts of terrorism.
WCSD School Police Chief Tracy Moore said, “We take all threats seriously. Our top priority is always the safety and security of our students, staff, and schools.”
Neither threat was carried out, and no one was hurt, officials said, and there are no ongoing threats to schools related to these incidents.
Since the start of the school year, school police have arrested four teenagers on felony charges linked to social media or digital threats.
For anonymous reporting of threats, the Safe Voice Nevada hotline is available 24/7 at 1-833-216-SAFE (7233), online at www.safevoicenv.org, or through the Safe Voice app.
Authorities aren’t releasing information about the students’ identities because they are minors.
