The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County is continuing work on the Steamboat Parkway Improvement Project. Paving starts Tuesday, Sept. 3, and runs through Friday, Sept. 6, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Roads will be open during paving, but motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
Paving will occur on westbound Steamboat Parkway from east of the Veterans Parkway intersection to the Marketplace Lane intersection. Traffic will be reduced to one lane for westbound Steamboat Parkway and northbound Veterans Parkway near the intersection. Eastbound Steamboat Parkway and southbound Veterans Parkway traffic won’t be affected.
Intermittent closures will occur at the Marketplace Lane entrance/exit and the driveway. Both may be closed simultaneously for short periods. Alternative shopping center access includes the driveway near Roberto’s Taco Shop/CVS or entry from Damonte Ranch Parkway at Promenade Way.
RTC officials encourage pedestrians to follow detour signs or use the free RTC FlexRIDE service in the construction zone. Additional night paving is scheduled for the week of Sept. 9 at the Veterans Parkway/Steamboat Parkway intersection.
The project, set to be completed this fall, includes widening Steamboat Parkway from four to six lanes between Damonte Ranch Parkway and Veterans Parkway.
