Update for Sept. 12:

Aceball benefit for Davis Fire. As many area residents continue to be affected by the Davis Fire, the Reno Aces are offering fans an opportunity to help their neighbors in need during the upcoming homestand against the Albuquerque Isotope, the Colorado Rockies’ Triple-A affiliate, at Greater Nevada Field. Fans who purchase $8 right-field reserve and $11 infield reserve tickets through the link below for next week’s home games from Tuesday, Sept. 17, through Thursday, Sept. 19, will have 100% of the ticket’s proceeds will directly benefit the residents affected by the Davis Fire via the Red Cross of Northern Nevada. Washoe County Emergency Management

Evacuation Locations:

  • NEW Neil Road Recreation Center, located at 3925 Neil Rd., and the American Red Cross of Northern Nevada Chapter is offering food and water.
  • Washoe County Regional Animal Services can shelter small animals at 2825 Longley Lane. 

 Large Animal Evacuation Centers: 

  • The University of Nevada Equine Facility 1290 Valley Rd, Reno
  • Fuji Park 601 Old Clear Crk Rd, Carson City
  • Washoe County Animal Control is available recover pets and large animals in the evacuation area by calling 775-322-3647 #1 (8 a.m.-10 p.m.). Dispatch will need the address, description of the animal, where it is located on the property, and number of animals.
  • Potable water for livestock or residential uses are available through these companies:

Get Help

General support: Red Cross in northern Nevada – call 1-800-733-2767 for shelter and essential services, and following the fire post-emergency recovery

Mental health support: 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (dial 988 on any phone) is available 24/7 to provide support for those experiencing emotional distress or a mental health crisis. 

Showers: The City of Reno has opened many of its Parks and Recreation facilities for drop-in showers. Anyone who has evacuated due to the fire can stop by the Moana Springs Community Aquatics and Fitness Center, the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center or the Northwest Pool for services.

LGBTQIA+ support: Our Center also opened up its space to those affected by the fire. The LGBTQIA+ community center is open to anyone in need of a place to catch their breath, charge their phones and find access to resources. While visiting, kids can use the art room and library. 

Youth shelter: The Eddy House is open, especially for young adults between the ages of 18-24, providing shelter, meals, showers and access to resources. 

Co-working space: The Reno Hive is open for those who need a space to work during this time.

Keeping kids busy/cared for: Families can also stop by Swet Fitness, Little Red Wagon Kids or the National Automobile Museum for free entertainment. PBJ Collective has waived fees for its babysitting services.

Lodging: If you need a place to stay during the evacuation order, all three hotels at The ROW, J Resort, Grand Sierra Resort, Best Bet Motor Lodge, The Peppermill, Nugget Casino Resort, the Best Western Plus in Sparks and Reno Suites Hotel are all offering discounts. 

Storage space: The U-Haul Company of Northern Nevada announced Wednesday that is making facilities in Reno and Sparks available to provide 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box container usage to residents fleeing the Davis Fire. The offer is subject to availability. People seeking more information or needing to arrange storage services should contact the participating location nearest them:

And in case you were in need of a mental health pick-me-up, Kitty Kisses Cat Café is offering free 30-minute cat lounge sessions to first responders and those displaced by the fire.

Give Help

United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra has opened an assistance fund with donations going directly to cover food, shelters, medical supplies and emergency financial assistance to families in need. All administrative fees are waived for this fundraiser. 

Ashlee’s Toy Closet accepts donations of money and toys to provide new toys to children in need who have lost their homes.

The Reno Fire Department (RFD) invites anyone interested in helping first responders while they battle the Davis Fire to donate unopened, non-perishable snacks and drinks to any Reno fire station throughout the City of Reno. RFD will ensure these items make their way to the men and women on the frontlines of this incident. Top-requested items include:  

  • Bottled waters 
  • Gatorades 
  • Beef Jerky 
  • Granola Bars  
  • Trail Mix and Nuts 
  • Individually wrapped candy like Skittles, Red Vines, Starburst, hard candy, gummies, etc. (please avoid items that melt, such as chocolate)

Davis Fire Update: Containment grows as crews tackle hotspots

The Davis Fire has burned 5,824 acres and is now 76% contained. As containment increases, crews are removing equipment from secured areas and undergoing suppression efforts to support forest regrowth.
