Earlier this month, “About Town Deb” presented the Highway 50 Grape to Glass Harvest Roadshow fundraiser for the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation (NNCCF) in partnership with the El Dorado Winery Association, hosted by THE ROW. The purpose of the evening was to have fun, taste wine and sample food while listening to music, and most importantly, to raise money for NNCCF. The evening was a huge success.

There was a silent auction, and raffle tickets were sold to raise funds. One entire wall was lined with wonderful raffle gifts that were given away at the end of the evening. Several wineries from the El Dorado Wine Association were offering tastings of their wines, plus there were sandwiches, pastries and chocolates to be had as well. With art displays, sleight of hand magic and the opportunity to have your photo taken in a casket with the Hangtown Marshals, there was plenty of fun to be had while enjoying the wine and music.

“What a amazing evening was had by one and all as we raised funds in support of Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation to help relieve the financial and emotion burden of childhood cancer for our local children and their families in memory of Maddie Watkins who has her angel wings smiling down on us right now,” said Debbie McCarthy, known locally as About Town Deb. “What is better than wine, music by The Plaid City Band, great food and lots of fun all for a great cause?”

Debbie added that NNCCF’s “Know the Gold” fundraising campaign is also currently underway. Through January 31, 2020 all contributions to the campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the William N. Pennington Foundation, up to $400,000.

Cancer is a horrible affliction that invades all corners of our world. It’s especially hard to deal with when it strikes children. I would think that more of you reading this have been affected by cancer in one way or another than have not. I would encourage you to click the link below and consider donating something to the fight.
