An employment agreement for new Washoe County manager Eric Brown, who is scheduled to start next month, was approved Tuesday by commissioners.

Brown’s two-year contract can be renewed for successive periods and takes effect Nov. 25.

Brown is currently chief executive officer of Sacramento-based California Telehealth Network, which serves more than 300 hospitals and clinics in rural and underserved urban areas. He has an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles and a masters in business administration from the University of Virginia.

His annual base salary will be $222,560 and he’ll be eligible for cost of living adjustments provided to other Washoe County unclassified management employees, his contract states. Also included is a $600 per month vehicle allowance and relocation reimbursement up to $7,500.

Brown replaces John Slaughter, who retired this summer after 5 years as manager. He earned about $250,000 during his final year with Washoe County.

David Solaro, an assistant county manager, has been filling the post in the interim.
