Reno Art Fest 2019 Showcases Artists, Controlled Burn, Mural Marathon & More
Reno Art Fest 2019 celebrates more than 50 local and regional artists, July 12 through 14, in downtown Reno with an Open Air Art Market, Circus Circus Mural Marathon, Controlled Burn, a CR8TIV Zone full of family fun, a beer garden, local food trucks and a weekend packed with activities.
Formerly known as Art Blast, the event has been around since 2011. Artech took it over from the City of Reno last year and changed it up a bit. It’s now part of Artown and takes place in downtown Reno, on North Virginia Street, between 4th and 6th.
“There are so many different types of artistic expression and we want to celebrate as much as we can with this festival,” explained Artech Executive Director Maria Partridge. “That’s why we’re bringing in street performers, stilt walkers, drummers, art cars and whatever else we can think of to add to the fun.”
- Open Air Art Market: will feature more than 50 artist tents,
with original 2 and 3-dimensional fine art, including acrylics, oil paintings; photography; ceramics; jewelry; glass; stoneand watercolorand metal sculptures; wood and clay pieces. This is your chance to talkto local , regional and national artists about their work, which isall available for purchase! Circus Circus will once again present its MuralMarathon, when competitors will have the weekend to paint an original mural 19’7”feet wide by 14’ high, which will become a permanent art installation onthe side of the Circus Circus building. The murals (seven in totalfrom seven different artists) will face Virginia Street in the heart of the Arch District in downtown Reno, a busy intersection for motoristsand travelers .- Saturday night will feature Northern Nevada favorite Controlled Burn, as they present a flaming hot show with stilt walkers, dancers,
drummers and a variety of fire performers. Art cars will be playing fun music. - A special CR8TIV Zone will provide art supplies and activities
for kids of all ages. Hula Hoops, balloons, face painting, puppets art projects will be on hand for the entire family to enjoy.and interactive
