SPARKS — In light of the horrific events that took the lives of 50 Muslims in
two mosques in Christchurch, Northern Nevada Muslim Community (NNMC) is hosting tonight “Hearts United with Christchurch and the Muslim Community.”

NNMC Board President Sherif Elfass said that Hearts United is meant to remember the fallen and the injured, eradicate hate, and spread love and peace.

“The intent of such hateful and racist crime was to divide us, create fear and suspicion among us, make us falter and rip apart our brotherly ties,” he explained. “If anything at all, it has accomplished the very opposite of that intent.

“We, at NNMC, were moved by the outpouring of support and concern from leaders of different faiths, our neighbors, our friends, our policedepartment, and our elected officials. We are very grateful to all for such a heartwarming show of support.”
