2019 Wildland Firefighter Positions Now Open

Wildland firefighting positions with Bureau of Land Management Nevada are open now through February 2019. Below are the current vacancy announcement numbers and deadlines to apply. This year, positions are available for firefighters assigned to engines, handcrews or helicopters as well as equipment operators. Base hourly pay ranges from $12.74 to $27.66 per hour. Previous firefighting experience is not a requirement for entry-level positions. Additional positions may be advertised over the next few months. Information on the hiring process and wildland firefighting can be found at www.firejobs.doi.gov.

BLM Nevada has one of the largest firefighting programs in the continental U.S. and had a very active 2018 fire season. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, have a valid passport or birth certificate and a valid driver’s license, be at least 18 years old and pass a work capacity test (pack test) on the first day. Those who are hired will be seasonally employed from April through October.
