Burlington Stores, in partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, has presented a $10,000 donation to teachers at Katherine Dunn Elementary School in Sparks, enabling them to buy supplies for their classrooms.

The donation was presented during a recent surprise assembly at the school, 1135 O’Callaghan Drive.

The donation will be split equally between the teachers at Dunn, who may access their online accounts through AdoptAClassroom.org and use the funds to shop for classroom supplies on the website’s online marketplace.

“Rather than spend their own money, as many of them do, our teachers will be able to use these funds to buy supplies they need,” Allison Fannin, principal of Katherine Dunn Elementary School, said in a statement. “We are grateful to Burlington Stores for such a generous gesture, and we look forward to seeing how our teachers decide to use the funds to help their students.”

Burlington is scheduled to open a new 40,000 square foot store this week at the Legends at Sparks.

“We know how hard teachers work, and how their efforts affect the future of our communities through our students,” Burlington Store Manager MaryAnn Iverson said in a statement. “We are committed to helping our schools succeed, and we are happy to present this donation to Katherine Dunn Elementary School today. We wish our teachers and students well as they continue their academic journeys together.”
