If you’ve heard of The Eddy but haven’t checked it out yet, now’s the time.
Located next to Wild River Grille along the Riverwalk, The Eddy is an all-ages (until sundown, 21+) collaborative community space lined by shipping containers that encircle a large courtyard offering a variety of activities.
Each container houses a bar with its own theme and custom design and serving craft draft beers and cans, wine, and mixed drinks. Happy hour is every Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. with $2 off all drafts, wine, and well cocktails. Frequently, local breweries and distilleries are featured and offer extended drink specials, prizes, and giveaways.
The Eddy also has a rotation of local food trucks; a daily set schedule is 12 to 2:30 p.m. for lunch and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for dinner. Check Facebook or Instagram to find out which trucks will be there.
Local artists painted the shipping containers with large murals highlighting Nevada themes such as a Steller’s Jay and cactus. Inside you will find a fire pit, great for the spring and fall months, in addition to some of those cooler summer nights. There is plenty of seating at the bars and picnic tables, and guests can sit on the synthetic turf.
The Eddy has a variety of games for the kids and adults alike including two Bocce ball courts, a giant Jenga game, three cornhole games, and a giant Connect Four. The Eddy partners with local fitness studios to host a variety of FREE fitness classes including pilates, boot camps, and yoga on Saturdays and Sundays. Email [email protected] to register for the fitness classes and follow their social media to see what will be offered each week.
The Eddy also houses different exhibits accompanying some of the bigger events in Reno. Most recently, art sculptures from Sculpturefest were placed and will stay on site for an extended period of time.
There are also three booths available to rent. Local artists and small businesses can rent space to sell their handcrafted goods, or you can rent a booth for your special event, such as a birthday party. The Eddy is pet friendly, keeping in mind it is lined with synthetic turf. There are also bathrooms and bike parking.
