With summer quickly approaching, frozen treats such as ice cream become increasingly popular. If you weren’t aware, Reno has the first and only Thai rolled ice cream. Located exclusively at Dorinda’s Chocolates, the ice cream is crafted right before your eyes, from start to finish.
There are three steps involved in creating this delicious treat. First you pick your cream base, either cow or coconut milk (vegan option). Second you choose your flavor (see menu below). Finally, the ingredients, which are in liquid form, are poured onto a metal slab, frozen, chopped, and rolled into mini tacos. There are additional toppings you can add to your ice cream, although most come fully loaded so additional toppings are not needed.
Each ice cream is $8, including tax. I was told the weekends can get very busy, with an average of 30-60 minute waits. They usually make about 200 ice creams per day on the weekends. The South Reno location is usually less busy, as are weekdays.
