Diane Keaton, American film actress, director, producer and screenwriter, hosted an exclusive bottle signing of her 2014 red blend wine self-titled “The Keaton” at Whispering Vine Wine Co. Friday afternoon. The event ran from 3-5 p.m. at Whispering Vine’s Fourth Street location.
Around 12:30 p.m. three committed fans sat outside the building in lawn chairs. By 3 p.m. the line was wrapped around the building. Keaton pre-signed bottles which were available for purchase beforehand. At the event, each guest was allowed signing of one personal item or a photo with Keaton. Most guests opted for a photo. Front line access was granted to those who purchased a case of her wine.
Keaton is most notably known for her roles in movies such as “The Godfather,” “Play It Again, Sam,” “Annie Hall,” and “Something’s Gotta Give.”
Keaton highly recommends serving her wine over ice, which is the how she drinks it. In the ‘70s Keaton lived in New York City without air conditioning. One day on the balcony, while trying to cool off, Keaton added ice to her wine and a tradition was made.
Keaton calls her wine an “every day wine” and insisted the bottle have a twist off cap. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from the sales of her wine help fund Alzheimer’s research at the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health at the Cleveland Clinic in Las Vegas. It’s a cause close to Keaton’s heart, as her father died from brain cancer and her mother from Alzheimer’s.
