The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) presented Beth Macmillan, Artown’s executive director, with a commemorative coin at a recent arts and business luncheon.

The award recognizes those who participate in the region’s economic development efforts, according EDAWN.

The business group said, “They appreciate all that Beth does for our entire community and believes she goes above and beyond in serving notphoto_beth-macmillan-002 only the arts community, but our entire region. The coin is presented in recognition of exceptional leadership, engagement, and/or cooperation in support of Reno-Sparks regional economic development efforts.”

Macmillan joined Artown in 2001 and was promoted to executive director in 2003. She has produced Artown events, created new approaches and strategic partnerships.

She is the host of ArtEffects, a KNPB weekly television series, which looks into Reno’s arts scene and art features from across the country.

She recently served as president of the Western Arts Alliance, a membership association of touring and performing arts professionals engaged in promoting and presenting performing arts throughout the western states.
