The Nevada Museum of Art is hosting a conversation with Bay Area artists who will be discussing their “Beautification Machine,” a device created to “neutralize the bile and fear spewed forth daily over the networks and transform polarizing media sources into vehicles of contemplation and peace.”
WHEN: Thursday, May 26, 2016 / 6 pm – 7 pm
WHERE: Nevada Museum of Art, 160 West Liberty Street, Reno
WHAT: A conversation between Bay Area Beautification Machine artists, Andy Diaz Hope and Jon Bernson, and philanthropists and art collectors Deborah and Andy Rappaport, also from San Francisco.
Beautification Machine is a visual and sound art installation that aims to create a space for constructive political dialogue. According to artists Diaz Hope and Bernson the Beautification Machine is a device used to “neutralize the bile and fear spewed forth daily over the networks and transform polarizing media sources into vehicles of contemplation and peace”.
WHO: Beautification Machine is the result of a collaboration between San Francisco-based artists Andy Diaz Hope and Jon Bernson. Bay Area philanthropists and art collectors Deborah and Andy Rappaport will join the conversation to discuss Beautification Machine with Diaz Hope and Bernson. The Rappaports purchased the artwork and donated it to the Nevada Museum of Art in late 2014.
The event will take place in the Charles N. Mathewson | IGT Founders Room at the Nevada Museum of Art, with Diaz Hope and Bernson conversing with the Rappaports.
