Renown will be donating the money in installments of $75,000 each year for the next three years and the funds will help Girls on the Run to hire a full-time director, part-time coordinator and provide snacks, water bottles, T-shirts and race medals.

“The majority of these schools are located in the 89502 zip code – a low income, high needs area,” said Phyllis Freyer, vice president of marketing and communications at Renown Health.

“We are thrilled to receive this grant from Renown. The funding will be key to low income schools,” said Danielle Rees, executive director of Girls on the Run – Sierras. “This program has been growing steadily since starting in Reno four years ago, but before this funding we were only able to offer the program at one Title I school each year. Now will we have programs at 12 Title I schools over the next three years.”
