The Reno Rodeo Foundation is hosting today a back-to-school denim distribution event at the Kids Kottage Activity Center.
Area foster children, up to 200, will attend the event with their foster parents. The event helps provide the children with new clothing for school.
Charles River Laboratories and Intuit employees, along with Reno Rodeo volunteers, are supporting and assisting the children at the event.
There are over 1,500 children in protective custody in Northern Nevada.
Each week they wear 7,500 pairs of jeans, 7,500 pairs of underwear and 15,000 socks.
New children arrive in the system daily, and most arrive without basic clothing: jeans, underwear and socks.
