Empowerment Nevada has partnered with Cold Springs Middle School to introduce a a new culture to kids at the school. There will be a kick-off assembly in the Cold Springs gymnasium on Monday, August 17th at 10:00 a.m. Olympic Gold Medalist David Wise will be featured at the launch.
“About a year ago, the superintendent of the Washoe County School District, learned of our ‘own it!’ concept and directed us to Roberta Duvall, principal of Cold Springs Middle School,” explained Empowerment Nevada Co-Founder and President, Ryan Costella.
Costella further said that Duvall has been a fearless champion of the same concept for many years and embraced the fact that finally, this concept has a slogan to tie it all together: “own it!” Costella continued, “After 10 months of collaboration, we are very excited about this epic kickoff event at the start of the upcoming school year.”
“The assembly will engage over 750 fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth graders and will focus entirely on bringing the principles of ‘own it!’ into the everyday curriculum and culture of our school,” affirmed Duvall.
Costella said that there will be numerous surprises for the students including a balloon drop as well as a marketing campaign that will blanket the school over the course of the year, reinforcing the “own it!” mentality on a daily basis. Duvall added, “After the assembly, students will participate in a day of extension learning courses applying ‘own it!’ to their lives as students, sons, daughters, friends and citizens.”
There isn’t enough space in the gymnasium for this event to open to the public, but many educators and other area VIP’s will be present, to help spread the Empowerment Nevada “Own it!” campaign.
