The Virginia Street Bridge construction continues on schedule. The south river diversion, starting today, will be completed and the removal of the south span of the bridge is scheduled to begin at the end of this week.

During the week of June 15, the installation of the abutment foundation will begin on the south abutment. This work will include the drilling of four shafts that are seven feet in diameter and extend approximately 50 feet below the river bed.

During the next two months there will be moderate vibrations affecting nearby business, according to the City of Reno. The vibrations are from the removal process and the drilling for the foundations.

More trucks will be entering and departing the work site.

The City is encouraging the public to follow traffic and pedestrian notifications posted around the work site. Only authorized personnel are allowed within the construction fenced areas.

The work hours for this project will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

More project information can be found on the City of Reno website, Reno.gov/VSB.
