Jake McCaskill has been appointed the Public Information Officer for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. McCaskill, along with Bob Harmon, will be the primary contacts for information relating to cases.

Robert Downs was convicted of multiple counts of child abuse and one count of first degree kidnapping stemming from multiple acts of abuse against a seven year old boy between March and May 2013. He will face up to 20 years in prison for each of the child abuse charges and a potential life sentence for kidnapping. The boy’s mother, Allison Alamo, was also prosecuted for having failed to protect the child. She pled guilty and was sentenced to 60-150 months in prison.  Her prison sentence was suspended and she was granted probation by the court.

Officers responded to a report of assault with a deadly weapon, but only a vehicle had been hit. There were no injuries reported and the investigation is being conducted by the Regional Gang Unit.

June 1, 2015

Around 5:30 a.m., officers received a report of a vehicle stolen from the 6600 block of Canoe Hill Drive in Spanish Springs. Around 9 a.m., the stolen vehicle was reported to be parked in Hobey’s parking lot. While offers were conducting surveillance, Colin Hartman left the casino on foot. A perimeter was set and Hartman was arrested. He was booked on several charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting a public officer.

There was an attempted carjacking on East 6th Street. The victim and the suspect were having a discussion when the suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and began driving with the victim hanging off the back of the car for a short distance before falling off. The suspect is described as a black male adult, 6’2”, and last seen wearing a striped shirt and orange shoes.

Stephanie Borchard was arrested on charges of child abuse on Broadway.

June 2, 2015

Police are seeking the public’s help in the finding the suspects who committed a series of burglaries at Montreux Golf Club in May. Staff at the Club were cleaning up early one morning when the suspects made off with merchandise from the shop. Based on the video, one subject is described as approximately 6’ and 160 pounds. The subject was wearing a dark long sleeve shirt, dark pants and gloves. The subject was wearing a dark watch cap and a bandana over his/her face. This subject is seen carrying a backpack with a distinct pattern on the back. The second subject is described as approximately 5’6” and around 160 pounds wearing tan pants, white gloves, hooded sweatshirt and a jacket. This subject had a bandana covering his/her face.

Juan Saldate was arrested on charges of petit larceny, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales, and trafficking a controlled substance on Damonte Ranch.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired on Silver Lake where a casing was discovered. No injuries were reported and the investigation is ongoing.

Suspects pulled up alongside the victims on Kietzke Lane, shooting into the victims’ vehicle. The victims ran into another vehicle as they were trying to flee the scene. A bullet hit their vehicle, but no injuries were reported. There are no suspect descriptions at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

June 3, 2015

Police are seeking the public’s help in finding Holly Feflie, who worked with an accomplice to steal a car in Lemmon Valley at the beginning of May. Around 5 a.m. on May 8, Feflie and another suspect approached the victim, stealing the victim’s car, wallet, and cell phone.

Joseph Christiansen has registered as a Tier III sex offender. He is residing in the 200 block of 22nd Street and is currently unemployed. Christiansen is in compliance with all sex offender laws and is not currently wanted by law enforcement.

A victim and suspect were involved in a physical altercation on West 7th Street. The victim dropped his property during the fight, which the suspect retrieved before fleeing the scene. The suspect is currently outstanding.

Jenna Lynn was arrested for child endangerment and battery on Selmi Drive.

Robert Scher was arrested for battery on Glenda Way.

Victims returned to their home on Sand Wedge Lane to find a window broken and property, including a vehicle, missing from their home. There are no suspects currently.

June 4, 2015

Jamie Avina-Soltero, Derrick Jull, Francisco Caceres-Flores, Leon Ott, and Henry Morataya-Melgar were issued citations during a recent undercover prostitution sting in downtown Reno. The citations were issued for soliciting sex in exchange for money. The pre-set bail for these citations is $500 and mandatory HIV testing.

A neighbor on Wells Avenue heard glass breaking at the commercial property near their home. When police arrived, they discovered a window had been broken and property stolen. The total loss has not been disclosed and there are no suspects at this time.

June 5, 2015

Around 2:30, officers responded to a report of a robbery at 7-11 at 8995 Lemmon Drive. Witnesses reported that the suspect produced a handgun and demanded cash before fleeing on foot with an unknown amount of money. The suspect is described as an unknown race male in his mid-30s approximately 5’08”-5’09”. The suspect was last seen wearing a black hat, black face mask, white hooded sweatshirt with horizontal stripes that zipped up the front and gray shorts.

Police are seeking the public’s help in finding suspects relating to a case involving more than $20,000 worth of property damage in the area between Midnight Drive and Pyramid on Highland Ranch Parkway. There are no suspect or vehicle descriptions available at this time.
