Citizens are also encouraged to participate simply by walking, biking, or carpooling. Dump the Pump is celebrating its tenth year as a national movement sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association.

“This is a great opportunity for people to try out transit for the first time,” according to RTC Executive Director Lee Gibson. “Plus, using transit reduces traffic congestion and reduces pollution from vehicles.”

Participants in Dump the Pump are invited to record their trips, will receive an appreciation prize, and will be eligible for other giveaways. Trips can be recorded between June 18th and July 31st at: http://www.rtcwashoe.greenride.com. The more trips that are recorded, the more chances an individual has to win a $100 giveaway.

Bus riders who record their green trips are eligible to win a Samsung – Galaxy Tab 3.7.0 Lite – 7″ Tablet.

Walkers recording trips have the chance to win a Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity and Sleep Tracker.

Bike riders recording their green trips could win two Mini Monkey Lights by Monkey Electric LLC plus an Adult RTC RIDE 10-Ride transit pass.

Those recording their carpool trip could win a JBL Flip Portable Stereo Speaker.
