stmarys2-6247119-9181980A new women’s health center has opened at Saint Mary’s Medical Group focusing on high-risk pregnancies and health coaching. The Center hopes to offer greater access to healthcare, preventative and otherwise, while offering the same exemplary service Saint Mary’s is known for already.

The Center will collaborate with obstetricians, neonatalogists, pediatric cardiologists, and pediatric surgeons to provide the highest quality care for parents and their children. The new center will offer both inpatient and outpatient services for medical, obstetrical and surgical complications of pregnancy including but not limited to DM, HTN, multiple gestation, and preterm labor, as well as prenatal diagnosis. Such services will include consultation and co-management for diagnostic ultrasound, amniocentesis and genetics counseling. Additionally, patients will have access to antepartum fetal testing including FHR monitoring, Doppler interrogation and ultrasound.

Joseph L. Harris, MD, FACOG, will be leading the team. “Developing a high-risk pregnancy center will allow our community to have access to a comprehensive program dedicated to pre- and postpartum care,” said Harris, medical director for Saint Mary’s Women’s Health Center. “Our goal is to provide mothers with resources that support healthy preconception, pregnancy and the management of complicated conditions such as gestational diabetes, congenital heart conditions, genetic disorders and more.”

There will be a number of other doctors joining the team in the coming months in order to help the citizens of Reno get the care necessary for themselves and their families. The Center is located at 645 N. Arlington, near downtown Reno.
