Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada and the St. Vincent’s Programs are holding a spring cleaning donation drive at the soon-to-open “St. Vincent’s Super Thrift” store at 190 Eeast Glendale Avenue in Sparks.
The event is Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We are inviting the community to de-clutter their homes and pantries this weekend and next week, and then donate their used items to us on the 25th. We are also offering people a “sneak peek” into our highly-anticipated thrift superstore. We’ll have our front doors open so shoppers can take a look inside and see the progress we’ve made on the 30,000 square foot store,” said Catholic Charities’ Auburn Harrison.
“We will be collecting non-perishable and canned food items, as well as clothing, furniture, shoes, household items, electronics, books, toys, art, working appliances, jewelry, collectibles and more. The food will go to the more than 12,000 hungry people who visit our St. Vincent’s Food Pantry each month,” Harrison added.
Clothing, furniture and other items are sold at St. Vincent’s Super Thrift, and revenue from the shopt stays in the local community to help people and families in need.
The first 100 people to donate will get a 20-percent off coupon to use in the new St. Vincent’s Super Thrift.
The store is expected to open by Memorial Day.
For people who can’t make it to donate on the 25th, Catholic Charities accepts donations at four locations in Reno and Sparks. Pick-ups may also be scheduled by calling 775-322-7073.
