Nevada’s State Senate passed yesterday AB 125, the “Homeowner Protections Act of 2015.” The bill now goes Governor Sandoval’s office for final approval. Reforms in AB 125 have been needed for some time, said the GOP Assembly Caucus in a statement sent to the news media.
The Caucus said that joint hearing made it clear that current law puts the focus on lawyers, not homeowners.
The amount of support for this bill was overwhelming: homeowners, subcontractors, and homebuilders – small and large alike – rallied behind this bill, the Caucus added. AB 125 provides protection to both homeowners and homebuilders by ensuring that defective homes will be fixed effectively and efficiently, without unnecessary burden and added costs.
Speaker John Hambrick said: “Today is historic. Although both Republicans and Democrats have labored for most of these reforms in prior legislative sessions, we were never able to get both houses of the legislature to pass a bill. We finally did so today and we look forward to Governor Sandoval signing this bill.”
