Around 4 pm this afternoon Officers with the Reno Police Department and the University of Nevada Reno Police responded to the area of College and Terrace Drive on the report of gun shots being fired. When Officers arrived, it was discovered that Law Enforcement Officers from a Multi-Agency Task Force were in the area conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle. At one point during the stop an incident occurred and shots were fired. A single occupant of the vehicle was struck by bullets and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The deceased subject’s identity is unknown at this time pending further investigation.
Due to the circumstances of the incident, the Washoe County Officer Involved Shooting Protocol was initiated, and the Reno Police Department will be the lead agency in the criminal investigation.
