Ardagh Group officially opened a new can manufacturing plant today in Reno (900 Waltham Way, McCarran, NV 89434) with a celebratory, open-house event that included local dignitaries and company officials from Ardagh Group and ConAgra Foods. This opening is highlighted by the creation of 85 new jobs and follows a supply agreement between leading international packaging company Ardagh Group and ConAgra Foods, one of North America’s largest packaged food companies.
Over $230 million has been invested in two new state-of-the-art facilities in Roanoke, VA and Reno,NV which will manufacture light weight DWI (Drawn and Wall-Ironed) cans as well as traditional 3-piece food cans and sanitary ends.This is the first time that this new generation thin-walled metal can will be produced in North America, following its successful launch by Ardagh in Europe.
James Willich, CEO of Ardagh Group, Metal, Americas, commented, “We are very pleased to be locating in Reno and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial association with the city and its surrounding areas. We chose this area against several other options for many positive reasons including a well developed infrastructure, proximity to our major customer, the availability of skilled labor and a favorable business tax structure.”
