Reno Municipal Court is holding today a Drug Court graduation ceremony at 6 p.m. in the Reno City Council Chambers on the first floor of City Hall.
The event helps mark the 25th anniversary of drug courts in the U.S. and will recognize 30 area men and women who have completed the specialty court. The ceremony marks their completion of a program of comprehensive drug and/or mental health treatment, supervision and accountability.“The ceremony is evidence of the tremendous impact the Reno Municipal Court has had on the community and will send a powerful message that drug courts are a proven budget solution that have saved lives and money for the past 25 years,” says Court Administrator Cassandra Jackson.
Reno Municipal Court has operated specialty courts since 2001 and has four such courts (DUI; Co-Occurring Disorder; Drug/DUI; and Homeless) that served 300 participants in fiscal year 2013.
