BALLOON RACE NEWS — The Great Reno Balloon Race (GRBR), now in its 33rd year, secures the Darth Vader hot-air balloon for the 2014 event, which will take to northern Nevada skies this Sept. 5—7 at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno, Nev. The 86-foot tall Darth Vader balloon, which depicts the infamous black helmet from the Star Wars villain, travels from Belgium and is making its third flight at GRBR.
“Over the years, the Darth Vader balloon has become an iconic symbol of our event,” said Pete Copeland, executive director of GRBR. “Our fans love the balloon, and we are thrilled to announce its appearance early on. Over the next couple of months, fans can expect to learn more about our plans to incorporate the Darth Vader balloon into the overall experience of the event.”
As one of northern Nevada’s most celebrated family-friendly events, GRBR offers an experience unlike any other. This year, fans can expect to see upwards of 100 balloons, including 15 special shaped balloons and an extended glow show on Friday featuring 20-25 hot-air balloons illuminating the early morning skyline.
