Image by Miriam Wilding.RPD NEWS — On August 4th, 2013, members of the Reno Police Department, operating under a grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, conducted directed enforcement of right-of-way violations of pedestrians at several intersections near downtown Reno.

The locations selected for enforcement have been identified as high-accident locations. During the operation RPD officers issued the following citations:

  • Total citations: 51
  • Total violations: 72
  • 28 ROW pedestrian violations
  • 10 cell phone usage while operating a motor vehicle
  • 10 no insurance
  • 6 registration violations
  • 4 driving on a suspended/revoked drivers license

The Reno Police Department would like to remind drivers that it is their obligation to remain aware of pedestrians. We would also like to remind pedestrians, when possible, to wear light colored clothing, be aware of on-coming traffic before entering the roadway, and to make eye-contact with drivers before crossing the street.
