Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced a grant for $75,437 to Washoe County Emergency Management for fire prevention and emergency readiness. The grant comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Fire Prevention & Safety (FP&S) grant program. FP&S grants support various projects that enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from fire and related hazards. The primary goal is to reduce injury and prevent death among high-risk populations.
“FEMA’s Fire Prevention and Safety grant program is essential to ensuring the security of Nevada’s communities,” Reid said. “I remain committed to making sure firefighters in Washoe County and across Nevada are fully equipped to respond quickly and efficiently to fires in the community or any other emergency need.”
