June 9: The Magic of Miniature Gardening Workshop – 1 to 3 p.m.
Join TV gardening host, radio personality and miniature gardening expert Arlena Schott for this lively lecture and hands on workshop. Arlena has received rave reviews for fun and engaging workshops.
Originally from Fallon, Arlena, at age 19, opened her first business named Arlena’s Garden Shop and Nursery and ran a landscaping business there for over 14 years before moving with her family to Wisconsin in 1995 where she opened another landscaping business. According to her website, “She watched in awe at how her Grandpa Edward Workman brought to life hundreds of plants that Arlena learned to care for on the family ranch.”
Today she is the producer and host of a “Garden Wise Living,” which now airs on more than 200 stations throughout the United States. She is also a blog talk radio show personality known as the “the Chicken Whisperer” and tours the country giving miniature gardening demonstrations at independent garden centers. Her at home, get-your-hands dirty personality is apparent in every show. According to Arlena, “Gardening isn’t a just a hobby; it’s a way of life that I love.”
Workshop fee is $15. All the supplies you’ll need to create your very own miniature garden will be available for you to select and purchase during the workshop. Must sign up and pay in advance at our Moana Lane store or you can call 825-0600 and register with your credit card. (No shows will not be refunded their money.) Class is for those ages 12 and up and limited to 30. Registration closes June 8 or when full, whichever comes first. Bring your gloves! Workshop is held at the Moana Lane store.
