RPD NEWS RELEASE

The Reno Police Department has seen a series of vehicle burglaries over the last several months, where the suspects are targeting the parking lots of health and fitness clubs.

Beginning in mid January, 2013 there has been twelve reported incidents in the both the Reno and Sparks areas. The suspects appear to park their vehicle in the health club lot, and watch as patrons exit their vehicles. The suspects primarily target females, who commonly leave purses in the vehicle. The suspects wait for the victim to enter the club, they then pull up next the vehicle, break out a window, sometimes without even getting out of their own car. The suspects quickly remove items from the car, and drive directly to a local department store and use the cash and credit cards. This all happens before the victim even knows the items were stolen.

The Reno Police Department has obtained several photos of the suspects using the stolen credit cards, and we are asking the public’s assistance in identifying those suspects, or the vehicles they were driving.

Anyone having information relating to this crime or the suspect(s) should contact the Reno Police Department at 334-2115, Secret Witness at 322-4900, www.secretwitness.com, or text the tip to 847411 (TIP 411) keyword – SW
