McClenahan will be connecting graduate students to the business community through events and internships and providing contacts for career opportunities. He is also responsible for recruitment of new graduate students and administering the corporate partners program at the College of Business. In addition, McClenahan will continue to administer the Nevada Global Business Program, which was designed to give graduate and undergraduate students short, experiential, international course experience. He will also continue to teach marketing in the College’s Executive MBA Program.

“I am excited about this opportunity to create even more connections between the College and the local business community,” McClenahan said. “I look forward to continuing the outstanding relationships we have with our Corporate Partners and others in the community, as well as finding new ways for our College and our students to collaborate with business and industry in our state.”

Previously, McClenahan served as the director of management and executive programs for the University’s Extended Studies for six years, overseeing noncredit, professional programs in many areas, such as social media, human resources and gaming management. He was responsible for more than 150 professional development courses each year, as well as several major conferences. He helped to design and directed educational programs tailor-made for specific businesses and industries to meet their workforce needs.

“Jim has done an outstanding job for the business community and the University for the past six years in his role for Extended Studies,” said College of Business Dean Greg Mosier. “We have partnered with him on several successful programs in the past, and I am delighted to have him officially come on board with the College of Business. Jim is innovative and dynamic, and always seems to find ways to create win-win partnerships that benefit all those involved.”

Before coming to the University, McClenahan held various management positions in the private sector. In the community, he serves as the chair-elect to The Chamber (the merged Northern Nevada and Reno Sparks Chamber) and was previously the treasurer for the past four years. He also serves on the boards of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) and Western Industrial Nevada (WIN), and is president of the Pastoral Council at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. McClenahan completed his MBA at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2006.
