American Red Cross Reminds Public to Send Holiday Cards for Heroes by December 11

Date:

redcrosslogo250-2418497-6749580The December 11 deadline is fast approaching for people to send holiday greetings to men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces through the American Red Cross.

The Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes program distributes the cards to service members, Veterans and their families across the country and around the world. The Northern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross is unique – the cards that are collected in the Northern NV community will go to service members, Veterans and military families from the local area.

“As individuals and families make their holiday plans this year, we hope they will remember to send words of cheer and gratitude to the men and women who serve our country,” said Clara Andriola, CEO, Northern Nevada Chapter. “We hope people will continue this simple, yet very meaningful tradition of giving thanks to those who have sacrificed so much. We are proud to be a part of Nevadans supporting Nevadans.”

The deadline to turn in cards has been extended for the local Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign to December 11, 2012. On 12 December, Red Cross volunteers will be partnering with military spouses of deployed service members to sort through all cards collected during the Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign at the local Chapter office in Reno, NV. For more information regarding the sorting event or more about the local Holiday Mail for Heroes Program, contact Kendra Kolvet, Service to the Armed Forces Coordinator at (775) 276-0052.

All holiday greetings should be addressed and sent to:
